The Subaru Impreza does not have a fuel pump inertia switch. If you are having fuel issues it could be the fuel pump relay or fuel pump.

The fuel pump on a 2002 Subaru Legacy is located inside the gas tank.
It is on the drivers side, front strut pillar. I have a 2004 outback sedan it is located in the tank. This link below is for a 2006 imprza sti but it is close to how you would do a outback sedan. I just found an answer on yahoo that says it is a life time filter located in the tank. I'm sure that means the lifetime of the pump.
The 1996 Subaru fuel pump relay switch is located on the firewall in the engine compartment. The fuel pump relay switch will be on the drivers side of the firewall.
