In the fuel tank. I would also add the there is an access panel with 3 Philips screws under the rear seat. Flip it forward to see panel. This gives you the access panel. If you're going to change it yourself here are 2 things that will help you.
1. you will most likely break the electrical connector off as it is a real pain to get off.
2. The fuel lines have little quick release built in at the base of their connectors. If dirty they are hard to see. Just hoping for folks not to rack their brain trying to see what tool is needed to get them off.

The fuel pump is located in the fuel tank. Unless there is an access panel inside the car to get at the fuel pump from above you will have to remove the fuel tank.
Your fuel pump is located under the backseat on the passenger side. There is a round cover that you will remove to gain access to the pump.
Most VAG diesel models the fuel pump is in the fuel tank Access is normally gained from under the rear seats.
On the top of the fuel tank. You will have to drop down the fuel tank to get access to it.
The fuel filter is located next to the fuel pump in the rear of car next to the fuel tank.
