The fuel pump is just behind the rear axle and in front of the fuel tank. There are two cylinders, one is larger than the other...that is the fuel filter, the other unit is the fuel pump. If you plan on removing it, be very careful not to "ground" your tools, it could cause a spark, and ignite the fuel that will be seeping out of the loose fuel lines. I would suggest to disconnect the battery cable to avoid any problems. I would also suggest that you replace the fuel filter at the same time...it's easier to do both at the same time. As a matter of fact, a fuel filter that hasn't been replaced in a long time can contribute to a bad fuel flow.
need location of 1990 Mercedes 560 sel fuel pump relay
In the engine compartment, on the firewall, to the left of the brake master cylinder
The fuse panel for a Mercedes 560 SL is on the side of the passenger footwell. You may need to move the carpet pad. It pops out.
Under the car behind right rear axle.
A long slow trickle charge (3 amp or less) is always best for the battery.
There is no fuse. The power for both of the fuel pumps comes off the fuel pump relay. The power to the relay comes off the "X4/10" terminal block, pin 38. The terminal block is located in the engine compartment, on the right side, mounted to the firewall. Its right above the strut attach point. Hope this helps
