It has a mechanical pump that is mounted on the engine block. Normally you will find them on the passenger side on the front of the block. Follow the fuel line from the carburetor and it will lead you to the pump.
76 had a mechanical fuel pump there was no relay.
Begin by removing the fuel pump wiring harness. Remove the fuel pump lines. Remove the fuel pump retaining bolts. Reverse the process to install your new fuel pump.

Yes, manual fuel pump, mounted on the engine block.
yes there is the Oldsmobile division released one for 2 years only in 1975 and 76 i currently have one in my 85 Pontiac grand prix
My Manual for the Grand Cherokee Special Edition says 76 litres. The E light will come on a few gallons before empty. Dont run it all the way out though because if theres no fuel in the injectors, fuel filter, fuel pump, etc, you will have to go through a lot of hassle to reprime the system. Or so I have heard. 76 liters is 20 gallons. my 95 JGC w/ 5.2V8 Manual says 87 litres... You only have to worry about "re-priming" the engine if you have the diesel engine.
Can you bolt on earlier heads/intake/exhaust manifolds.. from a 1970 Pontiac 455 to this 76 455 engine.

The reference chart that I have says "75-84 psi". The footnote states that this pressure is "injection pump pressure" and I would guess that the measurement should be taken prior to the fuel line splitting off to the injectors. This is the same value as the 77 and 76 450SL. Prior to this, the value is given at 30 psi (for years 72 - 75). I believe that in 76, M-Benz moved to a different ignition system that may have necessitated the increase in pressure....but that's just a guess.
