Can you bolt on earlier heads/intake/exhaust manifolds.. from a 1970 Pontiac 455 to this 76 455 engine.
An intake from a Pontiac 400 will fit a 389 as long as the engine, or more specifically, the heads are from model year 1965 or 1966.

The exhaust pushrods are slightly longer than the intakes. To locate where to put the shorter intake pushrods look in the bores in the cylinder heads where the intake manifold lines up and you'll see the intake valve. Simply place all the short pushrods where you see the intake valves and you should be able to find where to install the rest.
Depends on a few things such as if you are using aluminum heads & intake and headers, or the factory iron parts. If it is all factory, with the exhaust manifolds on it about 620-640 lbs. Substituting aluminum heads, intake, and headers saves about 75-80lbs.

The intake is larger on virtually all internal combustion engines.
Mounted in the heads.
It's about halfway down from the top of the engine. It's where the cylinder heads and the engine block meet. Basically where the metal goes from light to dark on most engines.
tbi engine top end is different from carb engine top end. on a carburated engine, the intake and heads use 90 degree angles for intake mounting bolts. on a tbi engine, the intake and heads use 75 degree angles for intake bolts. you can choose one of these three options: entire new engine. intake manifold designed for tbi heads but utilizes a carb mounting flange on top or tbi manifold to spread bore or square bore adapter
