Ah in 1983 sorry but that model originaly had a mechanical pump on the right front lower corner of the engine block.Espesally if it has a carburetor!
Someone correct me if I'm wrong!
Some 1983 models came with crossfire fuel injection and had in-tank fuel pumps. The fuel pump relay is located on the driver's side, between the fender and brake booster. It should be next to the fan relay, which looks similar to it, but the fuel pump relay should be the one closest to the brake booster if I'm not mistaken.
For the fuel gauge? In the gas tank on the fuel pump.
TO test the fuel pump relay on a 1989 Pontiac Trans am a spark tester can be used. Connect the tester to a ground on the vehicle is check the voltage to see if it is receiving the proper current.
