fuse number 23
You can replace the cigar lighter in a 99 Grand Am by removing the fuse and then removing the lighter element. You will then need to remove the lighter socket and disconnect the electrical connections. The last step is to reverse these instructions to put in the new lighter.
( Fuse number 27 ) is a 15 amp fuse for the cigar lighter
( # 41 ) - 20 amp mini-fuse - cigar lighter , diagnostic connector power
Make sure the wires are connected to the cigar lighter. If they are, is there any power to them? If not, check the fuse. If there is power and it still won't work, then the lighter itself may be burned out. Try a different lighter in your socket to see if it works, or buy a replacement lighter/socket assembly and install it.
Check your cigar lighter fuse. This is also the DLC fuse so if you have a dime stuck in the lighter socket or blew the fuse with a cell phone charger you won't be able to read codes until the fuse is replaced.
Hi, have just changed the cigar lighter socket fuse on my 06 Mondeo zetec, wich was behind the glove compartmant (which you need to remove - see handbook) then it's a 15Amp (yellow) fuse, situated on the left of the fuse board about half way up. Hope this helps.
Check the fuse first. If the fuse if good then either the lighter itself or the lighter outlet is defective.
