fuel filter is on drivers side on the line against the frame.
On the outside of the tank underneath the car. Easy to change but messy with gas, so get something for the gas to leak into, or hold the line with your finger (if you can) while changing out the filter i guess. You'll need a special tool (available at a parts store) to take off the filter. The tool releases the filter from the fuel line fittings. Sometimes it's easy to take off the filter and sometimes it difficult. Needle nose pliers won't work.
sorry there is no filter on the mk vii. but ther is a orifice tube with a screen pressed in the liquid line it kina acts like a filter and a expansion valve
Check the feeder line right after the fuel tank. Fallow this line, it is a"line filter",meaning a small canister with a nipple on either side. Also check back from inlet on fuel injection rail. .

if it is a rochester carburetor, it is inside the carburetor just behind where the fuel line screws into it.
If it is the 4.3 carb, the fuel filter is about 2 inches long and located at the end of the fuel line where it goes into the carb. Easy to change, just unscrew the fuel line where it goes into carb and you will see a filter with an orange pleated center.

On the inside of the driver side frame rail just ahead of the gas tank. You need a special tool (available from a parts store) to remove the filter. The tool helps to release the filter from the fuel line fitting. Sometimes it's easy to remove and other times it's difficult. I've been there.
Nottingham to Lincoln Line was created in 1846.
Try inside the framerail, on the drivers side, below the back door.
Trace the fuel line from the tank to the engine and it should be inline about mid car.
