On my 1995 Ford Explorer , I fold the right rear passenger seatback forward and lift a panel that is located just behind the backrest . The rod ( 2 sections ) for the jack and lowering the spare tire is held in place by clips , the lug nut wrench / jack handle is behind the plastic access panel in the drivers rear of the cargo area
Go buy another one.
Open the liftgate at the back of your Explorer and just above the bumper in the center of the vehicle, just below the rubber weather stripping for the liftgate you will see a hole around 3/4 " Get the wheel lug wrench out of the compartment that is inside the left rear of your Explorer - it has 2 levers to move to release the cover - you use this as a crank handle to lower the spare tire and also as a crank handle for your jack. Next , lay the wide section of your back seat down flat and lift the movable panel up. You will see 2 rods that will be used with the lug wrench. Slip the 2 rods together, use the lug wrench on one end as a crank and insert the other end with the hook through the hole that is above the back bumper. It will fit into a crank, then start turning the lug wrench counterclockwise to lower the spare tire. When raising or lowering the spare tire always try to have the weight of the spare on the cable when the cable is moving so the cable won't get knotted up.
you can find the answer on this site, a few questions above this one. it is the same as the 1997 ford explorer
Insert the jack crank handle into the hole in the back near the license plate and crank the spare down until you can release it from the cable.
Take the 2 bolts or screws out, pull the handle out a little bit and pop the clip off.
on top of the fuel tank , on the side closest to the middle of the car. remover the spare tire u will be able to see it
it's located above the spare tire under the vehicle....covered by a black metal box attached to the underbody with 3 screws. . . .
It will fit only it the bolt pattern is the same. The (1997- 2000) Ford Expedition are (5x135). The (1990 - Present) Ford explorer are (5x114.3). Copy & Paste link below; http://www.discountedwheelwarehouse.com/Ford_2___Vehicle_Bolt_Pattern_Reference.cfm
