I replaced my 1983 heater core by removing most of the passenger side dash and console, and opening the air box behind the glove box after disconnecting the hoses in the engine compartment
It was quite a job.
With allot of cuss-words and beer!
crawl under dash on passenger side un do 6 screws and pull out old heater core and put in new one
Take out the screws that hold the AC/Heater housing together and separate it, and it's right there.

!. You could have a bad heater core. 2. You could have a blown fuse. 3. Your thermostat could be bad. 4. Your air conditioning could be on.

Begin by removing the water supply hoses to your heater core. Remove the heater core retaining bolts. The heater core will come out. Reverse the process to install the new heater core.

The heater coil and a heater core is the same thing. Hot water circulates from the engine and through the heater core then back to engine generating heat for your heater system.
