I don't know if this will help you or not, but on my '96, the interior light dimmer is a rotary thumbwheel located low on the dash where the driver's left hand can operate it. When it's rotated all the way to the right, the interior light comes on.

Normally caused by faulty dimmer switch.
Turn the wheels all the way to the right. Look between the back of the driver side wheel and the fender. You will see the reverse light switch just above the transaxle.
I suspect its because of a defective door jamb switch, which is inside the drivers door on the engine side.
I don't have my Haynes manual at hand, but if memory serves, that switch is down on the transmission. If you pick up a Haynes or Chilton manual, it will show you where it is and how to adjust or replace it.
According to my Haynes manual, the reverse light switch is located on the top of the left end (driver's side) of the transaxel.Unplug the electrical connector from the switch and remove the switch with a socket DO NOT use an open end wrench.Installation is the reverse. I have an 01 Pontiac sunfire and I have noticed that the check gages light comes on when the gas is low. I have never seen any other indicator come on for low fuel.
The switch to turn the interior light on and off on the R Reg Tigra is located on the headlight switch. Push the switch in to turn on the interior lights.
