According to my Haynes manual, the reverse light switch is located on the top of the left end (driver's side) of the transaxel.
Unplug the electrical connector from the switch and remove the switch with a socket DO NOT use an open end wrench.
Installation is the reverse. Tighten the switch to 24 Ft. Lbs.

To change the reverse lights on a Pontiac Sunfire you need to locate it on the left side of the transaxle. Then, unplug the electric connector and remove the switch along with the socket.
How is the ignition key switch replaced on the 2000 Pontiac Sunfire? And after replacing the switch would I have to have it Towed to the Pontiac Dealer in order to have the car key programed to the Computer?
No, not if it is not defective. If the ignition switch is defective then that is all you need to replace.
Check the bulbs, check the fuse then check the switch.

Turn the wheels all the way to the right. Look between the back of the driver side wheel and the fender. You will see the reverse light switch just above the transaxle.

It might be the high/low beam switch. Had to replace one on my '96 when I had only low beams.

Begin by removing the retaining ring at the top of your 1990 Pontiac Bonneville ignition switch. The ignition switch will slide out. Remove the wiring harness from the end of the ignition switch. Reverse the process to install your new ignition switch.
