Facing the front of the car, on the front of the engine, slightly towards the driver's side, behind and below the exhaust manifold. Mine had a green wrapped wire leading to it.

the knock sensor in on the drivers side of the block toward the rear, and it's under the intake manifold.
On the 5.4 the knock sensor is under the intake and the connector is in the back of the motor on the passenger side.

Your knock sensor is located under the hood, center, front engine area, below intake manifold, mounted on block.
It is located on the engine block on the opposite side of the exhaust manifold to the right of the starter unit.
if you have a 5.4 or a 4.6 it is under the intake manifold on the passenger side.
It is screewed into the passenger side of the engine block just in front of the starter.
The 1997 Chevy 1500 pickup truck 5.7 liter engine knock sensor can be found on the front of the engine. You will need to remove the front engine cover in order to access the sensor.
The knock sensor is exactly what it says. It senses any knock or ticking in the engine and retards the timing. The knock sensor is not the problem, the knocking is. Go to a repair shop and have it diagnosed.
The knock sensor for most Nissan V6 engines is located directly under the intake manifold. So to replace it, you have to remove the intake manifold. Good Luck.
