The least dangerous volcanoes have been extinct for millions of years and are

eroded into stumps of their former selves. Scotland where I live has many of

them and they are amongst the oldest in the world. There are many many active

volcanoes in the world in remote places which do not threaten anyone with

serious harm.

Answer #2:

The least dangerous volcano is located in my back yard. It has never yet erupted,

has never been the source of any seismic activity, and no visiting seismologist

has ever expressed even the most guarded low-probability forecast of it ever

becoming active in the future. Our dogs play around it constantly, and in their

own mysterious and inscrutable way, seem to sense no danger at all.

...you need a volcanologist!..seismologists would be of no help as there is no necessary correlation between seismic activity and eruptions. Volcanogists study the history of volcanoes and attempt the prediction of eruptions; there is currently no accurate way to do this, but predicting eruptions could alleviate the impact on surrounding populations.
