The transmission filter is not in the pan like most other vehicles. On a 1990 acura legend it's an inline filter kinda looks like a fuel filter but located by the radiator.
You have to drop the transmission pan.
The 1990 Nissan Maxima came equipped with the 3.0L V6 and the RE4F02A automatic transmission. This type of transmission requires a professional tear down and overhaul to remove and replace the transmission filter assembly. It is not a standard pan filter with relatively easy access. The internal Maxima filter for the RE4F02A transmission is ATP part #B157.
Inside the trans pan.
There is no filter in a manual tranny. if you have an automatic there is still no removable filter in it.
Most Honda's use an internal filter that is non-serviceable and can only be accessed by removing the transmission. Just change the fluid and forget the filter.
