Early 4.0's the MAP is located directly behind the valve cover on the fire wall, it has a vacuum hose that connects to the throttle body and is connected electrically to the computer.
You may want to check the MAP (Manifold Air Pressure) located on the fire wall. There should be two rubber lines coming from it. Located just on the passenger side of the center. the temp sensor could also be the problem. its located near the thermostat. when the sensor is bad the computer is reading the temp as negative 40 degrees. its a little cheaper than a map sensor.
Most likely your crankshaft position sensor. Starts out fine, then dies after 30 mins or so? Sit for 30, then ok? 40 bucks autozone
Sounds like the switch/sensor is bad. Often the guage sensor and warning light sensor are different.

its not a speed sensor its a speed cable mine went out on my 89 lude i think it's about 40 bucks for the cable at the dealership. it's pretty easy to take out and install the new one as long as you know where to look.
It cost me $102 and change for the part and $40 for install. If I had my own garage space to work I would have done this myself. I also saw part on-line for much less!!
purchase an actron sensor tester for about $40 and follow the directions
WD-40
40 Psi
start by checking choke operation but it sounds like MAP( Manifold Absolute Pressure ) sensor is going bad be sure to disconnect battery before starting project the reconnecting after everything is mounted and hooked back up to prevent shorting out electrical sensor
