Where is the number 1 wire on the distributor cap on a 72 v8 Chevy?
Looking at the distributor from the front, first post to the left of the points access window. Firing order from there would be clockwise, 1, 8, 4, 3, 6, 5, 7, 2.
get the compression stroke up on the number 1 spark plug and look at the rotor inside the distributor cap to see if it points to the number 1 wire on the cap
the one inline with the coil in front to the left
Look close, the original cap or a good replacement cap is marked as to which wire goes where. The number one on that flat type cap is the middle one on the drivers side.
where is number one on a vortex 4.3 v-6 distributor cap
No-1 wire goes on the distribitor cap in the 7: o clock position clock wise when standing in front of your vehicle. 18436572
The number #1 plug is the forward-most plug on the left (driver's) side. Trace that wire back to the cap and you've got your answer.
number one wire will point to the number one cylinder
The marked # 1 position on the distributor cap faces to the FRONT
Standing in front with the hood open looking at the distributor cap, number one would be at the 1 O'clock position as comparing it to a clock. The firing order from there would be clockwise 1, 3, 4, 2.
The wire sequence on the distributor cap just goes 1 thru 6, clockwise, starting from the number one position (which should be marked either on the cap or distributor).
take number 1 spark plug out and bring that piston to top dead center. Then take distributor cap off. Locate which tower the rotor is pointing to on the cap. That will be the number 1 plug wire. Then just follow the firing order. The rotor should turn clockwise.
Why is there no spark coming out of distributor on number 8 cylinder on a 1987 Chevy truck already replaced wires plugs cap rotor button?
If you have spark at all but one plug, the problem is with that plug, wire, cap or rotor.
The distributor cap should have the number 1 marked on it. The distributor cap is installed with the # 1 position facing the engine , slightly towards the drivers side of the engine
It is in the very back of the engine. Just follow a plug wire from the spark plug to the distributor cap. It is hard to see. All the plug wires start at the distributor and then hook to each plug.
On Dodges, the the first(front) drivers side cylinder(spark plug) is the number one. So if you follow that wire to the distributor cap you will have the number one position. this should work for big and small block motors
follow first wire on drivers side at front of engine to cap
It is right behind the Throttle body and just to the right of the distributor. The wire that is in the center of the distributor cap hooks to the ignition coil.
The left bank is 1,3,5,7 and the right bank is 2,4,6,8. The distributor turns clockwise.
The distributor rotates in the clockwise direction. The number 1 cylinder wire goes on the first wire tower above the flat spot as the rotor turns. By the flat spot I mean the area where the ignition module goes through the distributor cap. Hope that is helpful. An illustration would be much easier than a written explanation, but I can't post an illustration here. .
The marked # 1 position on the distributor cap faces to the FRONT / CENTER
You can determine which is number one cylinder by tracing the number one wire back to the cap. The number one plug is the first one in the front on a four cylinder and on a V6 it is the first plug on the drivers side.
1-8-4-3-6-5-7-2 clockwise on cap.
how do you remove and replace the distributor cap on a 97 chevy cavalier?. I can not get to it.
look on the distributor cap, there is a slot marked "tach", connect the hot wire there and ground the other wire
at 11 Oclock
should be a 9/16 bolt on a retainer looks like a Y on the distributor and its bolted to the intake remove the bolt and retainer take the distributor cap off leave the wires on unless you mark the cap and corresponding wire
Yes, a 1997 Chevy Cavalier does have a distributor cap. The distributor does not have points and a condenser. This part is one electronic unit.
It should be the same as the small block.18436572.
If you will remove the #1 plug, (driver's side front of engine), then turn that cylinder to top dead center, (TDC), on the compression stroke, you can then remove the distributor cap and look at the rotor. The rotor will now be pointing to the #1 plug position. GET THE NUMBER ONE CYLINDER TOP DEAD AND THE ROTOR IN THE DISTRIBUTOR SHOULD BE PIONTING AT IT
if its a v-8 it is 18436572 number one on the cap should be pointing at number 1 cylinder is there a picture of the cap
What is the firing order of a 93 Ford Ranger V-6 3 and how are the cylinders numbered on the block and where would the 1 plug wire be located on the distributor cap?
cylinder numbers front to rear left side (drivers)4-5-6 right side 1-2-3 firing order 1-4-2-5-3-6 Number 1 plug wire on the distributor cap: If you visualize an imaginary line down the center of the engine block, number one wire to the distributor cap goes on the furthest position of the distributor cap next to the firewall. Rotation of distributor is clockwise. Another way to determine is to set the engine at TDC and remove the distributor… Read More
Standing in front of the vehicle with the hood open, #1 on the distributor cap would be at the 6 O'Clock postion, from there clockwise would be 1, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2.
what is the plug wire placement on the distributor cap of a1996 gmc 4.3 v6?
If your S10 has a 2.2L engine, it doesn't have a distributor cap.
Front left of the cap
(This is from the 91 Caprice service manual for the HEI ignition system) Looking at the distributor cap from the front of the engine bay, and running clockwise around the cap from about the 1 o'clock position, the wire numbering is: 3,6,5,7,2,1,8,4
follow the number one cylinder wire (most forward head towards radiator and this will lead you to the cap) double checking take out the plug and turn motor over till compression is felt then put timing mark on top pointed straight up, remove distributor cap and the rotor will be on the number one plug wire.
It doesn't have a distributor cap.
It is mounted on the left rear top side of the intake. It will have a plug wire coming out of it and going to the distributor cap.
the cavaliers do not have a distributer cap, they have a coil pack. you can find by following the spark plug wire from the blockto the other end and there will be four wires connected to the pack.
Why does your 1994 Chevy S10 misfire when first spark plug wire is removed on drivers side but it still misfires?
Bad plug, bad wire, bad distributor cap or bad valve.
On most cars the firing order is stamped on the intake manifold. the only thing you will sometimes will find on the distributor cap is the number 1 showing the location of the wire that goes to the number one plug.
With hood open, standing on the passenger side, #1 on the distributor cap would be at the 10 O'clock position.
Where on a 1975 L-82 corvette distributor cap with coil in cap is the number one plug wire located on the cap?
to the left of cap wiring plug ins one space.
The distributor cap is located on the top of the distributor on a 1996 Sunfire. It is connected to the spark plugs via a wire.
To find where number one spark plug wire connects to the distributor, remove the distriutor cap and set number one piston at Top Dead Center (TDC). At TDC, the rotor should be pointing to where number one spark plug wire connects.
I don't know what your specific problem is, but there is no distributor cap.
