On my 2007 Cobalt it's located on the driver's side engine in a special housing with a 1.25" hex head nut that has to be loosened first.....the Fram filter for this monstrosity costs 8.50 dollars compared to $3 for a regular oil filter...good luck
the filter on my 06 cobalt ss is in the fuel tank.. yours may be too
