Not sure about the 4cyl model, but the V6 has the oil filter just to the passenger side of midline on the underside of the engine block. It projects out toward the front of the car, and into an largish open space, rendering it fairly accessable. It is an easy job to remove and replace if you have access to a lift or some ramps to raise the front of the car a bit, as I don't think you'd be able to get to it from above. The OE oil filter is really on there tight, so it can be a bit tough at first. Loosening it slightly will allow most of the oil to drain out into your catch pan, but a lot more will come out after you remove the filter completely, so make sure you have the pan in place.
