A 2006 Chevy Silverado came with either a 4.8, 5.3 or the 6.0 and the oil pump on these engines are located at the bottom of the engine inside the oil pan.

The oil pump is located inside the oil pan, mounted on the bottom of the engine block. Oil pan must be removed to access the pump. Once you remove the pan, the oil pump will be clearly visible.
First of all, Chevy stopped making the 5.7L 350 engine in late 1999 The oil pump that's in your engine is behind the timing cover on the front of the engine and not in the oil pan.
