I'm not a mechanic / technician but I believe on a 2003 Mercury Mountaineer , 4.0 liter , SOHC , V6 engine that the oil pressure sending unit is on the front of the engine in the area where the lower radiator hose connects to the water pump
On a Mercury Sable , V6 engine : firewall 1-----2-----3 4-----5-----6 front of vehicle > driver
Rear right side of engine in cylinder head.
On a GM engine The #1 cylinder is located drivers side, front of engine.
