You will need to remove the filter before replacing the oil sending unit. The oil sending unit detects the oil pressure; it is different than the oil pump.

The dodge stratus 2.0 4 cylinder oil sending unit is located on the back of the middle of the block. To remove it we had to take out the transmission to get to it. The only advantage was we got to put a new clutch in the car which is was going to need soon anyway. Once you locate the unit just take a wrench and unscrew it and put the new one in. Please becareful and do not cross thread it. It took us 8.5 hrs and we are certified mechanics.
