On a 1996 Ford Explorer :
( if you have the 4.0 liter EFI , V6 engine )
The oil pressure sending unit for the gauge is on the drivers side of the
engine , below the Power Steering pump )
The gas gauge in the Eddie Bauer Explorer probably does not work due to a bad fuel sending unit. The sending unit is in the fuel tank in the same access area as the fuel pump.
The fuel sending unit for your fuel gauge is in the fuel tank with the electric fuel pump
The electric fuel pump is inside the fuel tank combined with the sending unit for the fuel gauge
The sending unit for the temperature guage on a Ford 4.0 L OHV engine is in the intake manifold just to the left of the thermostat housing when you are standing at the front of the vehicle. The larger sending unit on the right is for the EEC system.
The fuel sending unit for your fuel gauge is inside the fuel tank with the electric fuel pump
The sending unit for the fuel gauge is inside the fuel tank with the electric fuel pump ( I believe fuse # 17 - 15 amp - is for the fuel gauge on a 1991 Ford Explorer )
On my 1995 Ford Explorer, with the 4.0 L OHV engine, the sending unit for the oil pressure guage is located just below the power steering pump.
At your own risks. I had a similar problem with my 1996 Explorer Eddie Bauer...Unfortunately, I replaced the transmission as a unit and later on found out that a faulty TPS sensor may cause the transmission to disengage. I would suggest a process of elimination by starting with the small item first which in this cars may be the TPS sensor. JB
I just changed my blower for about $45.00 and a hour of my time. You will have to loosen the reservoir remove cruise control unit and loosen the air intake to get fan out to change. It was not hard.
I believe that is near the oil filter
the sending unit is located near the bottom of the block on the left ( driver side) it is on the same harness as the oil level switch
It is in the fuel tank attached to the fuel gauge sending unit.
