behind the glove In the relay/fuse panel behind the ashtray. After you remove the ashtray and holder you will need to remove the box above it to access the relay
The switch is on the shift knob. There is also a relay and solenoid. The most common problems are * Bad solder joints in the relay * broken wires at the switch * broken wires at the solenoid * bad solenoid For more info on OD problems go to http://www.brickboard.com/FAQ/700-900/ It is the ultimate Volvo 940 DIY site.
Need to replace the OD relay which is behind the glove box. Remove glove box and look to left. White relay. Found on eBay for 12 bucks. Hope that is the problem.
you do not have a relay for a fan belt. just change them.
Just to the left behind the glove box. Its a small white rectangular box. Very easy to get to. My problem is that the overdrive light stays on, hence car wont shift into overdrive. My problem is not the relay, probably not the over drive solenoid, (located on the side of the trans) but the wiring, which has in places the isolation rotted of. I'm trying to fix that now. not much room to work up there. I'm going to try from top first since its the wire that goes up to the shifter box that is in the worse shape. Hope I don't have to drop the trans... good luck on your problem!
