There is some confusion here. around the late sixties there was a popular historical novel entitled Jennie- about the Mother of Sir Winston Churchill, Lady Randolph Churchill. The book was heavily advertised and the paperbacks had a profile portrait of the lead character against a purple background, suggestive of state matters. The motion picture- Portrait of Jennie- an early Occult drama starred Joseph Cotten and the actress Jennifer Jones. Picture was made in the late forties- and is NOT about Mrs. Churchill in any way. The cover illustration from the book ( Jennie) is a formal portrait, and this may be responsible for the confusion- I only learned of this film a week or so again discussing the (lake House) with a relative- who compared the two films- I had vaguley assumed ( Portrait of Jennie) was a biopic ( like , say Amelia) about Mrs. Churchill- you cannot judge a book by its cover! sage advice.

Did you ever get the answer to this question? I'm looking for the same. Try 'The two worlds of Jennie Logan' http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0078430 There is also a similarly plotted movie where a guy goes back in time because of an old picture, called 'Somewhere in Time', which you may enjoy if you liked the Jennie Logan movie. Enjoy! :)
