There is no drain plug, remove the lower radiator hose to drain coolant.
On a 2001 GMC Savana 5.7 V8. There is no drain plug. You actually have to remove the big hose that joins the engine to the radiator. This will drain out all the fluids.
You will find that it is located on the bottom of the radiator. If you do not find a drain Petcock on the bottom of the radiator you must remove the lower radiator hose in order to drain the radiator.

I have a 1999 gmc savana 1500 5.7 and i just replaced my transmission and it was a 4L60E. So yours should be the same.
