The radiator is the aluminum grate-looking thing under the hood at the front of the car (but behind the bumper and grill). BUT, there are several reasons a car can overheat, such as low or old coolant, a bad water pump, bad temperature sensors or CPU, dead radiator fan, etc.
Something can be wrong with your starter.. have you tried push starting the car? Check your coolant systems.. radiator, water pump, thermostat..
If you haven't tried this already. Try replacing the radiator cap. Sometimes that is all it is.A bad water pump doesn't always leak when they go bad. The impeller can wear or break loose from its driveshaft.
Heater core (radiator) needs to be cleaned or changed
Yes. My car just bogged out on me and turned off tried to turn it on and wouldn't start, lifted the hood and coolant was dripping ad a big puddle under my car. It may be cracked radiator or hoses.
as i have happened to me ive got a 97 Monte z34 and i had an issue with it overheating i tried new water pump didnt fix it tried new thermostat didnt fix it...noticed i kept losing coolant...it had actually blew a head gasket and the water was going into the combustion chamber and going out the exhaust if that's the case if urs has the 3.4l dohc u might wanna set about $1500 or more to the side to get it done that was with me tering it down puttin new gaskets on and reassembling the engine and had to take it to a gm garage to get timed cause a lil garage ppl wont know how to time it.....Low coolant, bad water pump, plugged radiator, leak, stuck closed thermostat
From easiest to hardest: Does radiator have enough coolant? Is the fan working? Could be a bad thermostat. Water pump (there is a small hole in the bottom of the water pump. If there is water dripping out of the "weep" hole, then the water pump is bad). Could be a blown head gasket. (Is there any water in the oil or does the coolant in the radiator have a fuel smell?
Overheating can be due to several factors. You could have a bad water pump. Check for slight steaming from the water pump, sometimes unnoticable if it's just the seal. Also, it could be a bad thermostat, which if it stays stuck shut can cause overheating. Another factor that is not the radiator is the most costliest of the repairs. If the head gasket blows, what happens is that the car will continue to overheat even if you've replaced the radiator. The loss of compression in the engine causes the car to continuously overheat.
your coolant level sensor is bad. change it.
I replaced my 1996 radiator on 2006. I tried yellow pages and found a new/aftermarket one for less than $100. You might want to replace the thermostate as well. Good luck.
The reason for any relay is to have lower power to the control circuit. If you tried to run the fan directly from the electronic control module there would be either insufficient power to run the fan or you would damage the ECM by drawing too much power and overheating it.
1996 Camry Coolant Overflow ----I recently changed the timing belt/thermostat/water pump of my car and strange things start to happen! My car is a 1996 Toyota Camry, 4 cylinder. The reservoir of coolant overflows everytime I drive about 50 miles. (the coolant in the tank is way overfull and coolant is bubbling inside). The reservoir is about half full before I drive (so over filling the reservoir is not the problem.Everytime when the coolant overflow, after the engine is cooled down, I open the radiator cap and find out there is no coolant in the radiator anymore!!!. So everytime, i need to refill the radiator!!!!Here are other facts to help diagnose my car:1) radiator cap is recently replaced so the overflow is not caused by a malfunction of the radiator cap2) Everytime I refill the radiator after the engine is cooled, I did the proper steps (start the engine and let the air bubbles out). When I start the engine to let the air bubbles out, I also noticed that the coolant inside the radiator warms up really quick once I start the engine. It only take 1 min for the coolant mix in the radiator to almost boil!!!!3) There are no leaking hoses of the cooling system.4) The engine oil and the transmission fluid seems fine. (no mix of oil and coolant)5) The fans work properly.6) Temperature gauge mystery:The temp gauge takes way longer to show the normal temp (temp gauge in the middle). It took about 5-10 mins for the temp to be normal before I have this cooling problem. Now it takes way longer. And another thing I noticed is that as soon as I get on the high way, the temp drops to the bottom of the gauge and as soon as I get off the high way, the temp goes to the middle of the gauge. The temp fluctuate a little before but not as much as now.Can any one tell me what is wrong with my car? It is really annoying. Tried so many things to fix it but still do not know what is wrong.
replace the radiator cap. I fought this for 2 days . after changing theromostats twice and bleeding air from the system, I finally changed the radiator cap and solved the problem.
