I have a 1997 Chevy Blazer 4DR and the relay is located underneath the glove box.
There is a bolt on the side of the hinge.If you loosen the bolt, the hinge comes apart and you can lift the door off the hinge.You will need to remove the door panel and remove the wiring harness before you can remove the door.
Open the Driver's door and look at the side of the dash. Remove the side panel panel.
For 2002 Avalanche, its on the right rear door side of the rear seat. By opening the door, you should see at the base of the seat a removable panel. It will be on the right side of the seat.
Some fuses located inside panel on dash inside drivers door and some are in a black plastic box under the hood, it might not be marked but its easy to find.

Remove the fuse or the relay.
Fuel pump relay, horn relay, daytime running lights relay and if there is a fourth, power door lock relay.
Open the glove compartment door and look in back. There should be an access door for the fuel pump relay.
