The oil drain plug is located on the underside of the engine directly below the filler hole. The head of the bolt will need a 17mm socket to remove.
Hi; Under the transmission is a round headed bolt with an inset square hole. I took an Allen key and ground off two of the opposing corners to make a square tool. Clean the bolt area and undo the bolt. Drain the oil into an appropriate container. Pull out the dipstick. I purchased a fitting from Canadian Tire that screws onto a litre container of oil and has a longer clear hose on it. By inverting the oil bottle and placing the hose into the transmission dipstick hole I was able to fill the transmission up. The fitting had a twist fitting so that I could invert the bottle and then open it up to drain the oil. I forget the exact volume to add, but Honda is quite adamant that the transmission should not be overfilled or the plates can slip. If you overfill then carefully loosen up the transmission drain and drain oil out. Also a new gasket is recommended on the drain bolt which you can get from Honda or aftermarket for a dollar or two. I recommend spending the extra money for the Honda Transmission fluid. You are already saving by doing the job yourself and you bought a Honda so use the dealer recommended fluid.......my opinion.
Undo the fill plug with whatever sized socket/wrench needed then undo the drain plug with a 3/8" ratchet and drain the old fluid into a container. Retighten the drain plug and refill the transmission with Honda Manual Transmission Fluid or 10w30 motor oil. You will need a way to squirt the oil through the fill hole. Retighten the fill hole and you are set.
Underneath the engine, look through the hole in the engine guard, you will need a 17 mm socket, watch for the drain plug washer, it sticks in place until the oil comes out and then it falls into the drain tray.
