The gender of a turtle does not affect the age of the turtle. You can tell the age of your turtle by looking at the layers on the turtles scute. Scutes are what makes a turtles shell look quilted. Each scute sheds about once a year, revealing a new scute and leaving a layer on the new scute. By seeing how many layers are on a scute you can tell how many years old your turtle is. Example. 2 layers = 2 years, 10 layers = 10 years. A turtle with no layers will be less than a year old.

The shell, carapace scute or scutum.
A turtle makes its own house called a shell, scute or scutum.
A scute is what makes a turtles shell look quilted. About once a year each individual scute sheds, revealing a new one under neath and also leaves a layer on the new one. If you count the layers on a scute then you can tell about how old the turtle is. Example. 2 layers = 2 years old, 10 layers = 10 years old. If the turtle has no layers then the turtle is less than a year old.
Turtles shed about once a year. Each time they shed a layer appears on each scute. Scutes are what makes a turtle's shell look quilted. Each one sheds individually. By looking at how many layers on a scute, that's about how many years old they are. Turtles with no layers are less than a year old.
Turtles shed their shells when they are growing. A scute is what makes a turtle's shell look quilted. Each individual scute sheds or peels off, including the ones on the plastron. So don't worry about your turtle, he is perfectly fine and healthy.
Turtles shed about once a year. Each time a turtles sheds it leaves a layer on the scute. If you look at the individual scutes on the turtle and count the layers that is about the age of your turtle. Scutes are what make a turtles shell look similar to a quilt. Each one comes off with a new one under neath as the turtle grows.

The opponent would start his upkeep, scute mob's ability would go on stack, you react with sudden spoling, at which point scute mob becomes 0/2 and loses all abilities. This won't prevent the ability already on stack from resolving tough, so if he has 5 lands or more scute mob would get 4 +1/+1 counters leaving him a 4/6 for the rest of the turn.
I don't think that tape would be good for a turtle's shell. It could melt then stick to and burn the turtles shell when he is under his heat lamp or take off a scute or two when you tear it off. Taking off a scute early will reveal the bone under and that can develop an infection and hurt the turtle. If you are having trouble telling your turtles apart and that is why you want to put tape on one then I would recommend looking at the turtles bellies or plastrons. The plastrons often have unique marking on them which would make it easy to tell the turtles apart. Eventually you will be able to tell the turtles apart just by looking at their shells. I can and I have 15 turtles :). But anyway please don't put tape on your turtle, it could fall off in the water and then get eaten by a turtle too.
