Nope. It uses a relay, the ASD or Auto ShutDown relay. Basically it is fed off the distributor pulse in most cases so if the engine stops, the relay loses power and the fuel pump is shut down.

Your car has an ASD (auto shut down) relay. Has any work been done recently? If so check for any wires under the hood are pinched, out of place or melted from the exhaust. This problem could be very complex and makes experienced technicians pull their hair out. Good Luck!
