98-99 Mazda 626 do not have speed sensor. Speed data is obtained from ABS. Therefore if you are having speedometer issue then the problem is more complex as you have expected. Good luck!

1998 and later models are not equipped with a Vehicle Speed Sensor (on the tranny). The PCM receives vehicle speed information from the antilock brake system rear wheel speed sensor. - Haynes Repair Manual #36071, 1993-2005 Ford Ranger Pick-ups.

This engine has no turbine or turbo. Although the 1996 Ford Ranger does not have a turbine or turbo, it does have a turbine shaft speed (TSS) sensor. It is located inside the automatic transmission.

The Mazda Millennia Speed sensor tells the speedometer how fast the vehicle is traveling. Speed sensors are located on top of the transmission housing where they can reach the input shaft. The speed at which the input shaft spins tells the vehicle how fast it is moving.

its a pickup sensor on the rear of gearbox and runs of a reluctor ring in the box same as a abs sensor ring

User Avatar

in the pcm. don't make em with govenors anymoreAnswerThere is a speed limiter if this is what you mean. It is set right about 120mph. In mine it hits about 121-122ish. . depending on what Mazda 6 you have. you may not have a speed sensor. a V6 Mazda 6 with ABS doesnt have a speed sensor........the speed is calculated thru the abs sensors and is intertwined with the TCS system.the 6 ecu is multi plex and the only way to disable the speed limiter is with tuning(reprogramming the ecu)

Located on the rear axle housing and held by a mounting bolt.

the speed sensor is located under the vehicle right next to the left wheel. It's almost like a built in radar.
