To set the timing you unplug the temp. sensor in the thermostat housing and set the timing to 12 degrees before T.C. with the automatic trans.

That is a pretty easy fix. The speed sensor is located in the Differential ... the rear axle. 1 bolt holds it in place. Just unclip the electrical connection and then remove the single bolt. pull out the sensor. Wipe some oil on the o ring for the new sensor and reverse the process.
The idle speed is read by the Engine Control Module(computer) and adjusted as necessary by use of the idle air control in conjunction with the throttle position sensor. There is no separate idle sensor as such.
