nissans are pretty reliable as far as engines go. i have a 98 se-r i need a bit more info to tell you anything. but if its clicking when you start alternator, battery. if it does nothingwhen you try and start it its the starter it may also click if its the starter. you can get your alternator checked at advance auto parts for free, also your starter.

I have had the timing belt go bad and the front axles. Other than that mostly have just put maintenence into the car. There is however a recall for windshield wipers and I did have those go bad but Nissan replaced them for free.
Replacing struts can in some instances be a dangerous job if you don't have the proper tools or skills. Purchase a repair manual at most auto parts stores and then decide if you wish to tackle this job.

The owners manual for my 1995 200 SX SE-R indicates that timing "chain" does not need replacement. Unlike timing "belts" found on many cars which likely require replacement at 60,000 or 100,000 miles.
The answer depends on too many variables -- how many owners, whether the car was regularly serviced, climate of the area, what kind of gas was regularly used, what the car was used for... Most cars, with decent care, can run for more than 100,000 miles and sometimes twice that. ========== I have a 95 Nissan 200sx and it is already over 220,000. Still runs good, had to have some minor repairs for oil leaking, but other then that, it's great. ============ My 96 200 SER has 394,000 and still runs EXCELLENT. With proper maint. They will go just like the energizer bunny !!
Change the PCV valve, it helps and or eliminates this. I have a 96 200sx ser change the PCV valve it helps or eliminates this problem. This helps also on 95-2000 sentras including the 2.0L
