It should be located on the starter housing itself. It will be the small cylinder or bump on the side of the larger, cylindrical starter housing, and usually is what the wiring is attached to.
The solenoid is attached to the starter. There is no relay.

Cant on a 91-96 the starter and solenoid are one piece. I assume its that way on all of them. Starter cost around 100 bucks at autozone with a lifetime warrenty
This sounds like your starter solenoid is bad.
the solenoild for the 1.9l engine is located on the starter as a part of the complete unit. The 1.8l DOHC engine has a secondary solenoid on the passenger side firewall.
