You need to have the transmission computer (tcm) checked for codes. When the tcm detects a malfunction it sets a code and locks into 2nd gear. The problem could be the output speed sensor. That is the sensor that sends the signal that the speedometer works off of. The output speed sensor is located on the far front driver side of the transmission.
