Under hood, driver side, upper engine area, mounted on rear of cylinder head

Under hood, driver side, front engine area, rear side of battery, mounted on fenderwell
the coolant temp. sensor is right where the thermostat housing is. you have to remove the air cleaner and hose to see it. i just replace mine on a 1994 z/24 with a 3.1
Coolant temperature sending unit is located on the front of the engine. The cooling temperature sending unit will be on the right hand side of the engine.
The temperature sending unit on a 96 cavalier is on the front of the engine. It is just to the left of the alternator.
The fuel sending unit for the fuel gauge would be located in the fuel tank.
Didn't mention the year or engine size but temp sending units are generally found close to the thermostat.

The coolant temperature sending sensor on 1.9L & 2.0L engines (on '96 and earlier) are located on a cooling tube or into the themostat housing (usual position).
the oil pressure sending unit for a 1995 Cavalier 2.2 is on the side of the engine. The sensor is located just behind the oil filter.
There can be 1 or 2 depending on vehicle. It is for the temperature gauge and to turn on the cooling fan.
There are 2 and they are located on the intake manifold near the thermostat. The 1 with the single wire is for the gauge. The 2 wire is for the cooling fans and the computor. jd
There is a temperature sending unit installed somewhere on your engine for your temperature guage in your gauge panel , another temperature sending unit for your EEC - IV or EEC V electronic engine control system , newer Ford engines that have FAIL - SAFE cooling have a cylinder head temperature ( CHT ) sensor / sending unit if you have an outside temperature display there is a sensor / sending unit for that , some automatic transmissions have a temperature sending unit / sensor that will give a warning if the automatic transmission is running too hot etc
