This thermostat is located on top where upper radiator hose meets engine for the 1.8 litre engine.Be sure you purchase a quality thermostat with the checkball.This engine is not as picky as later Subaru engines regarding the thermostat but it is still advised to use a subaru thermostat if possible.Remove all air by bleeding, filling very slowly is best way to avoid the trapped air pocket
