I might be able to help you.....it should be located, in the thermostatt housing in the top of the intake manifold where the top radiator hose is connected.
The GM 366 motor has a horse power of 300 at 4,400 RPM. The 366 engine is an?æeight cylinder with 6-liter engine.?æ
Should be in a removable housing at the engine end of the upper radiator hose
The Thermostat is located in the neck where the upper radiator hose connects to the engine. you have to take off the upper intake plenum to access this. Alot of crap just to change the thermostat. excellent design GM. Jamie

There are several horsepower options for 366 cubic inch General Motors engine. The largest General Motors horsepower option was 420 horsepower.
Its in the distributer.
The starter is located on the right hand side of your GM 3.4 liter engine. You can follow the positive battery cable directly to the starter.
On a GM engine The #1 cylinder is located drivers side, front of engine.

On GM vehicles it is inside the alternator and is not serviceable.
GM thermostats on V8 engines are quite easy to find. Follow the top radiator hose back to the engine. That hose connects to a housing and the housing bolts to the engine. Remove the hose then remove the housing and the thermostat should be RIGHT THERE. Before putting the housing back in place make sure the intake manifold and thermostat housing are both thoroughly cleaned before you put the gasket and thermostat back in place.
