The automatic transmission behind the Cummins engine in a Ram 2500 is a Chrysler transmission. Depending on the year it could be a 47rh, 47re, 48re, or a 68rfe.
The 5.9 Cummins didn't come out until 1989...
The automatic is a 48 RE. The manual is a NV5600.
Manual is a NV4500 if a 5 speed or a NV5600 is a six speed. The automatic is a 47RE.
The automatic uses ATF+4
Need to know if you're running a manual or automatic transmission. By the way, it's 'Cummins' - there is no 'g' at the end.
what size engine do you have ? Is it an automatic or manual transmission ? Is this a California vehicle ? It is not a California vehicle, and it is a 351 cummins 2-barrel manual transmission
Well, it would help to know what the vehicle is.... Cummins provides engines for vehicles ranging from the 3/4 ton Dodge pickup up to Class 8 tractor-trailer power units. The swap isn't going to be just a "plug and play" deal... the ECM will need to be reflashed to remove the programming for the automatic transmission. Is it doable? Yes. It is feasible? Really depends on what the vehicle is.
It'll be in the vicinity of 11 gallons.
Terrible idea.. the 46RE transmission was not designed to handle the kind of torque produced by the Cummins diesels.
The 2500 Cummins Turbo might have a sticky transmission because the oil viscosity is wrong.
