There are actually two. Look at the end of your engine with the belts on it - this would normally be the front of the engine, but if the belt end is pointing at the back of your boat, then it would be logical to think that's the back. Anyway...there's a casting bolted to that end of each cylinder head with a pipe running between them. Remove the belts and those castings, and you'll see the thermostats. Fair warning: they are about $60 apiece, not counting the gasket, and you need to replace both.

Follow top radiator hose to were it connect to head. Remove 4 bolts and thermostat is there. Maybe 2 of them.
You can find the thermostat on the front of the engine. The thermostat will be inside of the thermostat housing.
There is no answer! There is not an opposite of thermostat, a thermostat is a measuring devise.

The thermostat will be inside of the thermostat housing. They thermostat housing can be found on the front of the engine.
The thermostat for the cooling system can be found on the front of the engine. You can follow the bottom radiator hose to the thermostat housing. The thermostat will be within the thermostat housing.
What about the thermostat?
The thermostat can be found inside of the thermostat housing. The thermostat housing is located on the front of the engine.
The 1999 Cadillac thermostat can be found on the front of the engine. The thermostat will be inside of the thermostat housing. You can follow the top radiator hose directly to the thermostat housing.
The old thermostat will simply lift out. Drop in the new thermostat. Put a new gasket on the thermostat housing. Secure the thermostat housing with the retaining bolts.
