A Ford 429 engine does not have a timing belt. As a V8 engine, it uses a timing chain that is located on the front of the engine behind the crank pulley, the water pump, and the timing chain cover. If you've little experience working on big block V8s then I'd suggest paying a mechanic (make sure he's in his 50's or he won't know how to do it!) to replace the timing chain.
The stock horsepower for a Ford 429 engine is 320. The Ford 429 engine was used on Ford vehicles made in the 1950s and 1960s.
it can be, but Ford made the 429 in 1968-73. There was the standard 429, Cobra Jet, and the Boss 429 built in 1969-70. Most parts are not interchangeable. The Ford engine was not a bored 400.
The Ford 1969 Shop Manual, Volume Two, Engine, states that the firing order for the 429/460 engine is: 1-5-4-2-6-3-7-8.
Yes.
Yes a 429 would fit into a 1969-1970 ford mustang without no engine compartment mods
According to my Chilton's Auto Repair Manual : For a 1970 , 429 cubic inch V8 ( 5th digit of VIN is a " K ' or an " N " ) The ignition timing is 6 * BTDC
The firing order of the Ford 429 is 1-5-4-2-6-3-7-8 Distributor rotates counterclockwise.
its not a 7 liter its a 7.5 liter and its the 460 ------------------------------------------------------------------ Ford calls their 429 cubic inch V8 engine a 7.0 liter
The short answer is NO you cu_nt. 400 uses same belhousing pattern as 460, 429, 400 & 351M
Ford shows 7.0 liters / 429 cubic inches
No, the Boos 429 will need mods for the engine to fit in the 1998 Mustang.
