I haven't gone out to my car to check, but from Google Images it looks like there is a little button right beneath the switch that allows you to move the gear shift park to drive. My OD light was flashing, so I was trying to figure out where it is, too. The owner's manual I found online didn't help.

It sounds like a short circuit in the control switch. The quickest, easiest and cheapest way to fix it would be to pull the fuse that controls the rear wiper.
