Check your transmission fluid. If not dirty or low it is either a worn clutch pack or ECM problem.
My '91 Stanza has automatic shoulder restraint but I have to buckle the lap belt.

I have a 91 Stanza XE front wheel drive. The dipstick for the tranny is located up front (towards the radiator) on the right (drivers)side down a bit. Mine has a black rubber/plastic pull knob, so it wasn't all that noticeable until I started looking for it in earnest.
Complete gear loss, is usually an indication of transmission failure. Other more minor issues may be present as in shifter cable problems etc. Keep your fingers crossed and take it into a shop you trust that deals with transmissions.
The fuel mixtue has gone lean.
Putting the transmission in "economy" or "power" mode changes the shift points in the transmission. "Economy" loosens the shift points, allowing the vehicle to obtain better gas mileage at the expense of performance. "Power mode" tightens the shift points, making the vehicle shift more quickly providing better performance at the expense of gas mileage.
NO IT WILL NOT WORK. The 99 MUST HAVE A 4L60E TRANSMISSION put back in it.
Yes it will, but the problem is that the PCM. / computer in the 91 will not shift the transmission up and down. I'm sure that the 91 had the 700R4 trans. in it. And that's what needs to be put back in it are you will have all kinds of problems. GOOD LUCK.
IF ITS MANUAL 89-91 WILL FIT IF ITS AUTOMATIC 89-91 OR 92-93 WITH A S.O.H.C ENGINE OR A 1994 SOHC ENGINE IF YOU CHANGE THE SHIFT CONTROL UNIT
