If it's a 4L30E (the automatic), it's in the main pan (the big square pan behind the small rectangular overdrive pan). Easy to change but you can't drain the Transmission Fluid. Messy job. Make sure you keep everything clean (as in spotless) and use a plastic gasket scraper. It is possible to ge the old gasket off in one piece if you do itvery slowly and carefully. Then 3 bolts to change the filter. There is another gasket on the valve body that has to be removed as well. It's about an inch and a half square. The new gasket should be on the filter already.
