Facing the grille - look over the top of the radiator and fan, way down toward (your left) at the bottom of the engine. You should see a small dipstick handle down there. THAT is the transmission dipstick.
In a 2002 Ford Taurus the type of automatic transmission fluid to use is indicated on the automatic transmission fluid dipstick or the dipstick handle
For automatic transmission: remove transmission dipstick, put fluid in dipstick tube with funnel. be careful not to overfill.
right above the oil dipstick! Just start pulling things out and if the fluid looks red you have found it!

You wouldn't want to do that because starting with the 2002 model Ford Explorer ( four door ) there is no automatic transmission fluid dipstick / dipstick tube that would allow you to put in automatic transmission fluid at home
The fluid goes down the dipstick tube.
