The neutral safety switch is inside the transmission, on the valve body. It is called a TRS (transmission range sensor).

The flasher in a Dodge Dakota should be located in the fuse box. The box is under the drivers side of the dash.
You add A/T transmission fluid at the same place you check it.
Same place you check the fluid level.
Starters on most engines are located on the driver's side of the engine, low down, at or near the transmission bellhousing. Follow the positive (red) battery cable directly to it.
The drain is located above the transmission.
It uses ATF+4 transmission fluid

There could be a transmission fluid leak. Check the seals. They may be loose or worn out.
