Where is the transmission speed sensor on a 2001 Pontiac grand se1 24 liter engine?

The vehicle speed sensor (vss) should be located on the driver side on the front of the transmission close to the axle. Their should be an ear protruding out from the transmission, and the sensor will be to the right of it.
