Yes you can replace a bike flasher with a car flasher . I priced the flasher from Honda dealer they want $80.00 plus tax for it I bought a standard car flasher for $4.79 plus tax and it worked. (flasher must be three prong - Prt.#550 12 volt 20-1036-2 from Can. Tire.) I answered my own question by trying it and it worked.

the unit for the cx 650 custom is at the rear of the battery best to take the seat off. A cx 500 custom is in the head light. Some times the 650 has had a none factory mod and put in the head lamp
It is under the dash on the driver side up against the door side. The flasher looks like a rectangular box that plugs in to a harness. Some models have a separate flasher for the hazards on the right side of the steering column.

On the steering columb just below the wheel. remove the lower cowel, it is clipped on to the side of the columb
