Where is the upshift delay switchover valve located on a 1994 Mercedes C280?

I think it is located on the drivers side of the tranny, but is very hard to get to. There is also a switch under the cowl behind the overflow tank on the passenger side of the car (under the hood). There is a green vacuum line that plugs into it. If you're having problems check that line first. M. Young.

The delay system may not have anything to do with the switch. It depends on the manufacturer but the delay system maybe part of the wiper motor assembly...or the delay is sometimes located in a separate module located separately from the control switch.

Mercedes W140 chassis cars have a delayed 2-3 upshift valve that is vac controlled. It delays the car going into 3rd in order to warm up the engine and the catalytic convertor faster. It is for emissions. If you remove the vac to the delay solenoid it will stop this from happening, however you will likely throw check engine lights since it has a check for the delay built into the test routine. Vibration when accelerating is probably from a worn transmission or motor mount, worn out universal joint or out of balance driveshaft.
